For about a week now, my HP Pavillion dv2745se laptop kept freezing up even under small load such as browsing the internet. The freezing up would be followed by messed up colors and lines on the screen. Sometimes when I force shutdown and try to turn it on, the monitor stays black. I thought this was because the laptop might be heating up.

I don't remember exactly what the numbers were but I did take a look at CPU temps under RMClock and it was around 60C (something around this) and the GPU temp under GPU-Z was around 70C usually at idle load.

Now the monitor won't turn on at all. I then looked up threads on this forum and around the web and tried out a solution called a GPU BGA reflow. This solution worked one time but my harddrive wasn't detected anymore (no IDE detected in the BIOS). I started up the laptop the next day - the monitor was black again even after another reflow. I even tried the "Ghetto Fix" with no luck.

What could I do to fix my laptop? My laptop isn't listed in the Limited Warranty Service Enhancement.

If the reflow didn't work for you, there is basically nothing else to do besides replacing the mobo (besides reflowing again and keeping it really cool, and not changing temps rapidly)

HP didn't include most of the laptops with the problem in the Limited Warranty, and your graphics card is definitely one of the ones that was bound to fail

Doing another reflow didn't work. I was wondering if there was any way to convince HP to replace or repair my laptop motherboard as if it were part of the Limited Warranty. Is it possible?

Asking HP for a free repair is always worth a shot, but don't hold your breathe

I haven't asked them yet but I will. In the meantime, I guess I'll just look for a nice laptop or desktop because I think my laptop is totally dead. Thank you.
