Have you tried different GC drivers? are you using a properly grounded outlet?

Does this happen only with Outlook and Divx?
If it happens only with these two apps. then I don't think it is the hardware.

Did you try any other programs? DVD playback?
    Did you reinstall the drivers?

Can you connect to an external monitor (VGA or HDMI) and reproduce it?
Also does it happen in battery mode or when plugged?

alright it is not outlook, only divx related.

I downloaded xvid and played the same video via wmp and it worked fine. The issue is when i attempt to play it via VLC media player and divx videos via browsers.

I am doing this plugged in and @ high performance. I do not have external monitor to check where the problem is...

I went to nvidia's website and they mention check with your OEM for latest video drivers and when i checked @ hp.com 8530w they do not have drivers for nvidia ??? only ATi, really strange.......

any idea with the new info? thanks

I have installed divx player, divx web player and xvid codec. It works fine via wmp but no where else!

This does not happen on my 8530w. I use divx and VLC player to watch the Terminator Sarah Conor Chronicles.

I am using all the stock drivers as well.

You just need new codecs, try installing k-lite codec pack or CCCP project

You can download drivers from www.laptopvideo2go.com

VLC uses its own codecs. Therefore, installing DivX is pointless if you use VLC for playback. The DivX codec will be used by every other player.

thats true that VLC uses its own codec....thats why i was confused why the hell the screen flickers while playing a video through it. Also playing divx videos via browsers have the same issue.

Running through wmp with xvid codec was fine no issues.
