I need some help! My screen (LCD) on my zv5000 seems to have gone bad. The laptop is only 1.5 years old, and is just 6 months out of warranty. But here is the catch... when I hook it up to an external monitor and turn on the expanded desktop option, the screen seems to work fine...then as soon as I unhook the external monitor, my screen goes black again. It seems to be just the back light, cause if I pull a lamp up next to the screen, I can see icons and still somewhat access stuff. HELP

Sounds like your backlighting is gone...that will be expensive to fix, see what HP charges for the repair.
