I have an HP DV2402CA notebook which I bought at Futureshop, I've had it for a few weeks now so I've passed the 14day return policy. I just noticed that the screen ripples a bit when its pressed on the left side is this normal? The ripples are small and noticeable only when contact is made. Furthermore, its more noticeable in darker conditions but when the brightness is maxed out its barely noticeable. Will this be an issue in the long run and should I return it to HP and have them fix it?

    When you press the screen?

I've noticed that it is a normal anomaly when you press ANY LCD screen you get distortions. Hence, you stop pressing the screen once your curiosity is served.

Are the distortions permanent? If so, I would send it in. But don't admit to the pressing.

Just when I press the left side of the bezel (screen) does it ripple; it seems to be isolated in that specific area. however I did give a better feel of the construction surrounding the screen it does feel a bit looser on the left side than it does on the right side. (Hence its solid feel is more to the right than to the left) To answer your question, the distortions are not permanent and seem to go away. My primary concern is whether or not it will "evolve" and become a series issue where the distortions remain permanent. Is this common in "budget" notebooks?

it is normal. please dont do that anymore or you will ruin your LCD screen. and no it will not evolve to a serious issue.... unless you keep doing it.

LCD stands for "Liquid Crystal Display". That "liquid" part is where the ripples come from. It is normal, just don't touch the screen.
