Has anybody come across a screen compatibility reference guide for recent HP business notebooks?
Although HP notebook models come from the factory with a fairly limited number of panels, I've found that the possibilities for replacement panel substitution, within the categories of LED's or LCD's of particular panel sizes, is quite large. I yearn to find a raw panel reference table, comparing/listing notebook panel cross-compatibility, and features, between various manufacturers.
Maybe somebody has already compiled a table, and I just haven't been able to find it. Reference, anybody?

dont know of any. but it neither would be "safe" to just look up a panel and get it.
there are lots of displays that look same, have same specs, and still dont fit in any notebook where a similar, or even the same display is in originally.
ive experienced this with my old elitebook where i looked up the screen model number, ordered the same display on a website selling notebook displays, and got the exact same new display, however the backlight cable was way too short to be connected to the inverter board, since that specific display was made for another notebook brand (acer i think).
recently i replaced the 3d display of my envy 17 3d, and there i also found several "similar" displays around, but i looked for the exact one which was inside my envy originally, and this one was the right one.
so you really need to get the exact display built for your specific notebook, and not just the same display model. best way is to look up (or ask hp support) the hp internal product id, because this one is the right one that will certainly fit into a hp notebook, while there may be other same display models but without or another internal hp id, which then may not be meant for hp notebooks or your specific one, hence likely to not fit.
