I sometimes get screen flicker on the DV8t..usually upon booting up, or waking up from sleep. Usually disappears after a while, or if I open up a program(in this case it returns if the program window is minimised.
I did a clean install of win 7 pro. I have also installed Ubuntu 10.10 with the propiatary nvidia drivers, and the screen flicker is there also.

Is the laptop defective or is it a driver problem.
    The bios is the latest.

I don't think it's a laptop or driver problem. It's your GPU, either it is a defective memory or poor connection. I suspect it's probably a defective memory in your graphic system.

Try to play around with memory setting in the Nvidia Control panel.

The refresh rate is 60 Hz for LED so it should not flicker at all. Mine doesn't.

I was afraid it would be the GPU.
