I bought my Compaq 3240 this weekend and up until I opened the notebook up like 5 minutes ago the scroll pad on the right side of the touch pad acctually worked like it was supposed to. thistime when I went to use the scroll pad it didnt scroll at all and just acted as another part of the touch pad. any ideas on whats going on and how to fix it? Thanks

    1. Check the utility and make sure that the ability is turned on.
    2. Restart and check again.
    3. Reinstall the drivers, or update as required.
    4. Call HP.
    5. Break defective notebook in half![ :D] Just kidding.

Let me know how it turns out.

Do a system restore back to before you had the problem

    start
    all programs
    accesories
    system tools
    system restore

    choose the date and go

    reinstall the drivers
make sure the drivers are installed in software setup.

what drivers are they? synaptics? go into mouse properties...advanced hardware scroll and check it

    gooood luck

    no luck?
