I've noticed that on the V2000, you can scroll up/down and left/right. But you can only scroll up/down with the DV1000. Isn't there a driver for the touchpad so that the DV1000 can also scroll left/right?
I really find it strange that HP could omit that little thing from the DV1000 when it has so many other things the V2000 doesn't, like QuickPlay, remote control, 2 headphone jacks, media buttons, etc.

Well, I'm just a really curious person. I like to ask questions and I think about things and wonder a lot. But do you know if there's a way to sidescroll on the DV1000?

You can scroll side to side with the arrow buttons, Yaar! Now just buy your laptop and be happy[}

i've had my dv1000 for about a year and a half and the one thing i'd love to figure out is how to TURN OFF the scrolling. it is the absolute most annoying thing that i've ever encountered in a notebook. if i want to scroll the page, i'll use the arrow keys or pgup/pgdn keys. the touchpad is such limited real estate as it is, but to have 10% reserved for scrolling up/down is ridiculous. i have to turn off the touchpad altogether in order to type anything .. or i'll be scrolled halfway down a page as soon as my right thumb caresses the scroll pad.

Scrolling can be turned off..Just look under COntrol Panel(classic view)-->Mouse-->Device Settings-->Settings-->Virtual Scrolling-->Uncheck the box beside horizontal and vertical scrolling.
