What's a decent second hard drive to get for dv8000? What brand and model? I'm looking for something that is reasonable quiet and fast 5400 to 7200 without a hefty price tag. Just something that'll help me back up my data in case my first hard drive gives out.

Depends on what you consider reasonable. You can get a 120GB Seagate hard drive from NewEgg for $130 or so.

Also, you'll need to hunt down a hard drive bracket to secure it in your dv8000, which can be very hard to find.

Apparently not. I just ordered it from HP for $38 today. They had to call me and get my CC info, but they didn't require me to buy a hard drive with it. Let's just hope they sent the correct part. If they did, adding a new HD is going to be very easy.

Hmm, nice to know HP is easily offering the part now.

I know before trying to get one was like pulling teeth.
