I just ordered the hard drive mounting bracket kit ( link) for my dv9000t, now I need to find the biggest drive I can stick in it. Anybody know what drives I can use? I'm happy getting another matching drive, but would like to get something bigger. Not planning on doing raid.

    The primary drive is a ST910021AS (100gb, 7200RPM).

The biggest 2.5 inch that I am aware of is a 200GB 4200 RPM drive. I think your largest 5400 RPM is 160 GB. Both are available on newegg.

I picked up a Momentus 5400.3 160GB (ST9160821A) from advantage. Their price was a little bit better than newegg.

    Thanks

i just ordered a dv9000t with a single 80gb hard drive, can i set up a raid if i buy the kit and a second identical 80gb hard drive? If so, will it make a noticable performance difference? Would it lessen the response or latency? My laptops never seem as crisp as my desktop.

    drabon74,
My machine came with a 12GB backup partition and another partition that I assume quickplay is using.. So that 80GB might be 60GB when you get it home.

You can remove the recovery partition without any problems, but definitely leave the quickplay partition if you ever want to use that. Also, it's tiny.

From everything I've read the raid part of the drivers is stripped out ... if you want to do a hardware raid.
