    Secrets to Keeping C:\SwSetup Current?

    HP adds software updates for our computers regularly, however, it's not easy to keep up with the right ones and it is a particular problem when we need to restore the C drive. When we are purchase a computer, some of the updates listed on the HP Software & Drivers webpage have dates earlier than the delivery of our machines, yet were not installed before delivery. Other updates replace earlier updates still on the webpage.

    a) Is the file named swsetup.txt in C:\SwSetup a script of sorts for the Recovery Manager program?

    b) How do we safely modify the programs in C:\SwSetup Recovery Manager installs so only the latest version of an update is installed?

    c) How do we safely remove folders and programs from C:\SwSetup so they are not installed by Recovery Manager?

    For reference, here are the updates that have been added to the Software & Drivers webpage for the tx2000z Vista 64. Note the list contains updates to earlier updates on the list.

    Note that when you choose "Run" after clicking on a download link on the HP website for any software beginning with "sp" such as sp39357, a folder for the software is added in C:\SwSetup.
