I have a hp dv5z with AVG and Ad-Aware installed for my anit-spyware and other protection. They have been running great since the download but they are messing up now. My computer says that they are running like they should but when i try to click on the desktop shorcut AVG doesnt load and Ad aware has an error code (which ive gotten before and thought i fixed?) NONE of my programs will run! and when i go to windows security center it says they are off and I DIDNT TURN THEM OFF? I try to turn them on and it wont allow me to. Does anyone have any input on why my computer wont let anything run like this? (IT WONT EVEN LET WINDOWS DEFENDER CHECK FOR UPDATES?!)

    thanks for any response.

its probably a virus. try taking the harddisk out and scanning it from another computer, but make sure it's well protected.
