I am going to call HP over Christmas break and see if I can get my wireless fixed.

When you send laptops into HP do you need to deleted all your files and programs? or just make a backup?

Well, umm, when you send it in, just back up your info. It's unlikely that it'll be gone, but do it just in case they replace or reformat your HDD.

You don't need to delete your files or programs.

I'd take a backup of the drive itself if possible as well. Depending on the problem (or if they just want to), they might take the "opportunity" to restore all the crap-ware.

Wireless problem only involves replacing WiFi card. They won't change your HD. But do backup, just in case.

Is this like an image of the hard drive? I could do that with my external dvd burner but it locks up when I use Sonic with it. I have tried Nero and it pretty much does the same. What could be the problem with that? It's a HP burner also.
