I have a cd stuck in my DVD burner (in the space between the module and the case) and I need to either replace the whole unit or pop the DVD module out and try to peel it out. Does anyone know how I can pop out the DVD module? Having the service manual would really help. Also, I might have to replace the DVD module completely, does anyone know where I can get a compatible replacement? I have an HP ZV6000 with a Dual Layer + Lightscribe burner but I am not attached to the lightscribe feature.

    Thanks!

EDIT - I found the service manual but I could really use a cheap source for a replacement DVD drive.

NEC ND-6750A. You'll need a #0 Phillips screwdriver. Don't forget to remove the battery before making hardware changes.

The question how did that happen comes to mind. Does the old drive not work anymore?

I lent it to my bro who has no experience with laptops. He dropped in a cd but didn't bother to push it down (like you would on a desktop drive). When he pushed it in, the cd went in the space between instead of inside the drive. I am not a first hand witness but its plausible.

The old drive can rip (music and movies) fine but can't play or burn. I have been forced to copy all my music and movies on to the HD to play it :( Its been really annoying but I have been really busy to do a whole reformat.
