For all of you who have had the unfortunate requirement to contact Tech Support or have your computer serviced, how was the experience?

Hpshopping is very nice on returns. During the first 30 days, you can return or exchange it for pretty much whatever reason you want (including dead pixels, yes even if it's just one). As for tech support, i had to call them for the very common problem with the intel 2200BG wireless, and they were of absolutly no help, which is why i decided to just exchange the laptop for another one and hope that it works this time.

I contacted them using their Online Live Chat and I must agree, completely no help at all. They seem to lack some of the basics when it comes to tech support. Their 1st level support is approx on par with other manufacturers' tech support, but I did have the opportunity of dealing with HP's upper level support staff and I was happy to see that they were knowledgable and willing to research the problem and get back to you with a solution/options. You normally won't be speaking to the upper level support unless it's an on-going problem.

I've never had to send anything in to HP for repair. I normally take it to a repair facility I used to work for and get the things done by my former co-workers or personally.
