I rescued an old laptop (Compaq Presario 1200XL500) from the recycling bin and would like to make it usable for a sixth grader. It boots with the base RAm but I would have to add one module. I need to find a user and/or service manual first so that I understand what this old laptop needs. No manuals seem to be available on the HP site. Are there other sites where I might find one?

If memory is all you are after, crucial, kingston, and the others all have memory configurations on-line. They might have that old lappie listed and the kind of memory it needs.

I found the memory spec through Crucial but need to know the ins and outs of this laptop before I pass it on to a student. Hard drive spec and install? Battery spec and install? really a good manual would cover most of the information needed.
