Hi everyone. i had a clean install with vista, but im not sure if my HDD runs in AHCI mode. iv'e already downloaded the Intel storage manager, so i thought i already had the sata drivers to run in ahci mode. Problem is, i dnt know why there were no longer available settings in the BIOS to change ide to AHCI mode when i hit esc. any help would be appreciated. my unit is HP dv6700nr. thank you

You can either check the current mode of the HDD by checking which drivers are installed in Device Manager -> IDE/ATA ATAPI controllers or download HD Tune and post a screenshot of the INFO page in it.

Did you do a BIOS update lately ? Was the toggle option available before ?

You dont really need the HDD to run in AHCI mode. It'll just result in a 5-10% increase/decrease in performance depending upon your system and OS. Plus some useless features....
