I just got off the phone with HP, concerning my new v2000z notebook.

They are being very shady about their delivery options....

I paid for the 2-day shipping option (10$ more than normal)... the build date was April 3rd... delivery date April 5th.

I received an email Thursday (2 business days early!) from HP and Fed Ex, telling me that the computer had been built and shipped... and to expect the lappy in 2 business days (Monday or at the very latest tuesday with my logic).

Well, I used the Fed Ex tracking number to check my status, the estimated delivery time/date was Thursday at 10:30am.

That's not 2-days... that's 5 days not including the weekend.

I called HP and asked what was up... they told me that it is being shipped 2 days... but it was shipped after the cutoff date on friday (funny how I got the email thursday morning at about 5:00am).. meaning it will be shipped on monday.... +2 days = wed... +1 day for customs (aparantly it's a little disclaimer on their website)

I called Fed-Ex international (item shipped from China), and asked what option was selected... I was told the standard option was selected. I asked when it would be delivered (estimated) to an American residence if the priority (2-day option) was selected, she told me Monday.

I then called HP...again, asking the same questions... getting this funny response... Aparantly 2-days means 2-days AFTER it reaches America. The "build" time includes any shipping to the United States. Thus, it will be "built" on Monday, shipped in 2-days including the 1-day disclaimer for customs.

I can't find anything telling me this on their website, this is the first I've heared of it. Fed-ex is still telling me that the 2-day option was not paid for by HP.

The only explanation I can think of, is that HP built it early, and decided to pass the savings onto their company rather than giving the customer her item early.

Sorry to be negative but paying for 2-day shipping was probably a mistake. Using the lowest level (free in some cases) shipping usually gets people their packages in 2-3 days, more often 2 days.

No need to apologize, lesson learned I guess. I have to say, no matter how good the v2000z turns out to be... I'm going to have a hard time recommending the company's products after this run-a-round.

I think this is a common issue with very large corps.

I ordered once from Dell and they also tell you (with super small letters) that all the delivery-times are after building and testing of the machine or (include your favorite excuse)-period of time.

Then again, go to the Lenovo forum. People have waited more than 2 months to get their beloved IBMs.

My experience with HP has been great, I mean, I got free ground shipping and still got the dv5000z two days before the shipping date!

I understand your anger, sometimes it seems that companies forget they live because of us, the costumers.

I made this exact same mistake. You live and you learn, I mean hey I had a 50 dollar discount anyways, and all in all I am very pleased with my computer so far.

Yeah, I got all torqued up when my new HP was being shipped last fall. I was upset and jumping up and down about delays in shipping (caused by customs issues) but... then I got the product, it was sweet, and the HP support was top notch. The hassles assocated with shipping quickly drifted into the mist. Enjoy your new toy/tool, it's only 10 bucks and not worth the stress.

Not really sure what the issue is with HP here. From what it sounds, they shipped it early and then gave it to FedEx for shipping. Then its in Fedex's hands, right? Looks like HP is great for getting your laptop out of their doors 2 days earlier than you had expected, no? Sorry to hear about your fedEx delivery concerns.

Ordered a v4000t early March for $429 - $50(rebate). Expected ship date was 3/10(Fri) but did not ship until 3/14(Tue) (received delay notice via email). Unit was drop shipped from vendor(China) and at my door(NJ) 3/16am - free shipping. For being late, HP sent out $50 coupon for future use.

    Hi Belili, Pinoy, and everybody,

I am a bit blurred with the HP deal, Do you think you can help me out. For the current price and offer i.e: dv8000z. How should I count the grand total - I am confused so only an already-purchase purchaser can explain it to me.

    i.e: ( $900 + tax 8.75% + $0 shipping ) - the $50 rebate

    or

    ($900 - $50 rebate) + tax 8.75% + $0 shipping

    or

    other formula???

I am confused. Please tell me from your experience how much do they count the grand total for you....

    Thank you very much

I think it was the first one...

You pay the $ then later send in the rebate... you get taxed on what you originally pay....

    Hi Belili,
Tx for the reply. So I will assume that the grand total is the sub amount plus tax after that minus rebate.

so what did you buy, DV5000z or 8000, how much did you spend?...

I forgot to ask anybody, do they get a copy of the Win OS with the backup CD send to them or not? I hear lately that Hp is cheating on us by not giving us the backup copy of our OS.

That's sad.... what happen if we need to reinstall and bla bla bla. Windows hang very easily, and we need to install it again sometimes....

    Please comment anybody...
