I currently have a DV6607NR that comes with NVIDIA GeForce 7150M and it says it has up to 287 MB Shared Video Memory. Does that mean it takes some of my system RAM for Video? I currently have 1 GB of DDR2 in my lap top and my question is, will my video card run faster if I upgrade the ram to lets say 3/4 GB's, since it will have more RAM to share, am I correct?

Yes it means it takes away from your system ram. But no, sharing more ram will not increase performance at all. Even high end dedicated cards have trouble using more than 256mb of ram, so a crappy low end integrated won't even put 64mbs of ram to use, so it would be pointless to try to give it more.

Yea I was just wondering if that would help raise my painfully low Graphics Score...

But for the time I will prolly upgrade the RAM anyways to make all the other programs run faster.

So yea, more ram will not increase your score. But upgrading your drivers (especially with the modded ones from laptopvideo2go.com) will definitely help your score.

I wouldn't count on much improvement in you Windows experience score from upgrading your display driver. I have the same GPU as you with a lesser CPU and it's stuck on 2.5. It's interesting that before I did a clean install of Vista, my score was 3.0, but has never budged above 2.5 since. I have been told that the Windows experience score is unreliable though. The 7150M is OK, just don't expect to do any newer gaming.

the laptopvideo2go drivers will definitely improve your wei score, but remember, WEI is not a very reliable indicator of performance

Dont worry about the WEI score. The integrated Nvidia GPU's score anywhere from 2.0 to 3.1 in the Gaming graphics section. For example I have seen the Go 6150 which is the predecessor of the 7150M score either 2.5 or 3.0 for that section on the same system.

In some cases yes it would especially in case of drivers aimed at a particular game Like crysis or bioshock but thats not always the case, sometimes some drivers wont even work properly. You would have to experiment a bit on the best drivers for your system.

For integrated graphics cards having the latest greeatest driver is of less importance compared to stability of the drivers.

    Hi all,

I was digging around for some information about the the nVidia GeForce Go 7150M graphics card found in the new HP DV6600 series.

It appears as if the new nVidia GPU supports accelerated hardware supported HD playback (HD video playback MPEG2 1080i H.264 720p)

nVidia GeForce 7150M graphics card specs:
    http://sg.nvidia.com/object/mobogpu_nb_7series_specs.html

    PureVideo HD info:

A great source of info regarding nVidia's integrated graphics solutions can be found here:

BTW - The WEI score does not give an accurate measure of performance. Updating your drivers will more than likely increase a score a bit but not improve "real" world performance.

If you're still hung up over the lower WEI score, google how to manipulate it like I did! ;)
