hey, just ordered my zx5000. it says estimate shipping date - August 10th. i'm leaving to college at 6am on the 18th, so i need the system on the 16th at the LATEST (gotta have the 17th open to make sure it works, and drive to bestbuy to talk to my managers and get their PSP on it). will i be ok? do they usually come earlier?

also, do i have to be home to sign for it? i work 9-5 most days. 14th is my last day (saturday), so if it comes on the 16th ill be ok since ill be home. but is there a chance it could come on like the 12th or 13th?

Some couriers are really sketchy, especially UPS. I've heard stories of where the delivery guy just blantly left the laptop wedged between the foot of the front door, WITHOUT someone signing for it.

Well, here is where I stand.

    Ordered 7/26
    Estimated ship date was 8/9
Actually shipped 8/2 (a whole week early)

Now, per HP...it has left their building and they have posted the FedEx number. However, when I click the tracking number and go to FedEx's site, it does not have any info yet because it has not been scanned. I have been checking ALL day (noticed the tracking number around 8:30am). It is now, 16 hours later and still no info. After talking with HP and FedEx tonight, I guess my notebook is in a truck somewhere unscanned. I thought it would have been scanned by FedEx before leaving the HP warehouse.

Is there any one else that has had this 'situation' (i.e. is this normal)? If so, when can I expect to see something on FedEx's site. I am trying to see when it will arrive.

    Thank you in advance.

I really wouldnt worry about it. I know its hard to wait for it to arrive, but I bet everything is fine and that you'll get it within the next week.

    Hi Run,

Thanks, but I'm not worried. I just thought it strange that HP's site said "shipped" with a FedEx number, but FedEx did not know anything about the shipment and told me to contact HP. Since I received no "shipped" email from HP, I was just wondering what was going on. This is why I called both...to get some answers. The HP rep is the one that told me that it left their company via FedEx but was probably on the truck. Also, I believe he mentioned it could take a day too to get info on FedEx's site. I guess they have had this question before. [ :)]

    Hi Play,

My HP is coming a week early. Maybe yours will too. I do think you have to sign for it. Take Care and I wish you well in college. Enjoy your years there. They go too fast. [ :)]

    Thanks All!

You'll have to sign for it if Fedex doesn't have a waiver on file. When Fedex comes and you're not home- they leave a notice, which generally has a spot to sign to "waive" signature at the door on deliveries. They keep it on file for a looong time- so if you've ever signed that, they'll just leave packages at your door, providing that it looks reasonabley safe to do so. [ :)]

it's been 4 days since i ordered, and still Shipping Date = august 10th.
so that's 5 more days until shipment. and then another 5 for delivery. argh.
hopefully, tennessee to oregon wont take that long though..
    im so impatient, lol!

if im not home and they leave that notice, can i just go to the post office and pick it up? or do i have to look for a local fedex branch? how does it work, im really not sure on this...

when they leave that notice on your door, you can either sign it and have them leave the package the next time they attempt to deliver, or you can check the box that has them leave it at your local fed ex center, at which point you can just go and pick it up. But they have to try and deliver it one time.

What i did was on the day that it was going to be delivered at 10:30 am - i was at work - so i called fed ex after 10:30 am and told them to bring the package the to fedex center in my town - after work i went there and it was waiting for me to pick it up. Somewhat simple, but you have to play phone tag for a bit before it happens.

Sorry dude. Just check back later today. I ordered mine on July 31 and its shipping date was estimated August 10 too. They just shipped mine today August 5 so yours probably will also! They accidently gave me two day shipping for free!

Everybody gets 2 day shipping- though it's not guarranteed (I think 3 days from Shanghai to door is the longest I've heard). Mine left Shanghai last Wednesday morning- and was at my door at 9amET Friday. :)

I second that. Mine left China on Tuesday and arrived today before 9am...2 days. Even FedEx had estimated Friday morning by 10:30. So they beat their own estimate by a day.
