    Hello All:

I just got a new battery for my 5 year old R4000. It is 14.8V and 7200MAH. It seems like a great find and was only about $50. I wonder if I should keep this R4000 plugged in to AC. I always did this with the old battery and it lasted 5 years. I use the R4000 very little. At one time HP said to keep it plugged in, it was OK. Others seem to think that letting it run down, and perhaps plugging it into AC every few months is the way to go. I know the last battery (12 cell) lasted 5 years with the AC always plugged in...say 95 % of the time...so I am wondering if I should keep doing this?

    TIA

So, doesn't anyone know if keeping it plugged in to AC all the time would hurt the Battery Pack?

Since it worked for you in the past, I'd keep doing it. The 12-cell in my R4000 still worked okay up until the notebook bricked itself, and I always had it plugged in....

Thank you for the info! It is sure nice to be able to keep it plugged in and not worry about it. I found an ebay store that had a 7200MAH version of the 12 cell for $50 shipped and it came with 2 covers. Matches the R4000 exactly!
