Hello everyone, I am currently deciding whether I should send my laptop in while the warranty is still good. I own an HP dv6tqe-7000, and have had it for exactly a year now. So far, I really like it, and I am extremely careful with handling it. The reason I'm deciding to send it in is I want to decide this before I lose the opportunity since my warranty runs out, and I have no time whatsoever to do it when school starts. Here are some other reasons why I'm considering sending it in:
1) The temperature: I own a laptop cooler, the Notepal U3. I use it all the time when I'm gaming, and 95% of the time I use it as a platform (not plugging it in for the fans to run) when I'm using my laptop for browsing. As of recently though, I've noticed that my temperatures have risen. I can't estimate the increase for playing games, but at least during idle/light browsing, temperatures would climb to 50C up to 55C. When I first got it, it would stay around 40C-45C.
When I browse, I usually have multiple tabs open (I would say definitely more than 20). I don't know if this has anything to do with it. I also don't know if it could just be my ambient temperatures. Is this increase normal after a year's time?
2) Sleep problem: I have this unusual problem with my laptop that I haven't been able to solve. Sometimes when I would close the lid the laptop fails to sleep and just crashes then turns itself off. I've tried updating multiple drivers and other troubleshooting but no dice.
I'm not sure if all of this warrants sending it in. I'm not entirely sure, but I believe it takes a lot of effort to send it in as well. If it's not worth the time, I don't want to do away with my laptop for a certain amount of time since I use it constantly. What's the estimated time I should expect to be without a laptop? I also haven't tried formatting to troubleshoot these problems, should I give it a try? Any advice would be appreciated.

First use canned air to blow out the dust. Then...
Use something to monitor your temps that records maximums (HWMonitor 32 works) and see what the loads are under stress. If they're staying below 95C then don't worry too much. If they're bumping up and down around 100C, then the machine is likely throttling and might need to be re-pasted. Idling at 50 to 55 is no big deal and could easily be because you now have some software running low level at idle adding to the temp.
If you send it in for the sleep problem, their first step will be to format your drive and do a clean install. So rather than wait for them to do that, backup all your important data and try that. Then carefully note what drivers etc you install after that to see if its one of the updates etc that's breaking it.
