I was sure I'm gonna wait until late April for the probable announcement of the refresh line for HP Envy. But then I just stumble upon a #$300 coupon for a top-end HP Envy 14 Beats which is pretty much the specs I was looking for.

Should I buy the laptop now?
The Estimated build date is April 12, 2011 - therefore accordingly with HP's 21 day-return policy - I can always return it if along those dates (mid April - early May) HP announce the refresh line.

I'm just making sure here. We can return laptops which was purchased with discount coupon right?

And logically, with HP suddenly bring the Envy beats line back to its website and give out this ridiculous discount - is it a sign that a refresh line is right around the corner?

Correct. You can return any laptop to HP that was purchased on their website or through HP Home and Office through the phone regardless if you used coupons or not. HP 21 day policy is fair and basically no questions asked. Enjoy the the laptop. :)

    Thanks man.

Hopefully all goes well. And if new envy line up is announced by then, hopefully at least there won't be a beats edition so I would not have to return this baby.

EDIT : one more thing, just to make sure. it says 21 days after delivery. is that delivery as in when they deliver the product or when we actually received the product?

The 21 days start the very day you sign with the FEDEX person handing you the Envy! :p

By the way, hopefully you never have to return it, but if you do the process is very simple. You call HP returns. They send you an email link to FEDEX where you will click to print your return/rma label. Stick it on the box after removing all external labels. Pack your Envy. Drop it at a FEDEX location. FEDEX will give you a receipt. Keep it incase the laptop never makes it to Memphis, lol. :D No worries, HP's warranty rocks!

Wow it's like you're reading my mind. I was just gonna ask about that. The instructions on the website are pretty clear but you have make it even more clearer. Yeah it's simple.

Yeah so I just ordered it and but the page showed that order cannot be done or something but when I checked my 'order status' I've got my order number for the item and the status now is 'Order Pending'.

So everything's normal right - despite the 'error' page?

Well, you have an order number that is good. :) You paid right? That is good. If you want to make sure it went through I suppose you can always just call HP and ask, easy enough. I would say the order pending is just time to process your order....etc. Again, but if you want to be sure, just call HP. Make an account at HP.com if you haven't already. Its nice because they will post updates to your order. When its sent to factory, when its in production...etc.

Oh yeah just saw my bank account and clearly showed that I've paid. So yeah I'll just call HP then just to make sure.

Yep I've made an account prior purchasing this. :)

    __
1 more thing about the return: The 21 days limit is up to (1) me calling the HP returns to tell them that I want to return my product or (2) dropping it to the FEDEX location and send it?

My first HP purchase. Hopefully this will be a good experience. :D

I was just thinking about posting that you have enough funds in your bank or credit card balance... :( Hope you straighten it out tomorrow. Hopefully the coupon will be good for a day or more. In the even the coupon is gone by the time you straighten it out with your bank, you can always call HP. Keep your order number. Tell them what happened, and they should honor the coupon. If not, ask them to escalate the the call to resolutions dept. They will help you. Do not worry. :) Us guys who have been on NBR for a while know some things, so feel free to ask us.

P.S. I really have to get some sleep. Good luck tomorrow fixing this little issue. ;)

Yeah Imma call HP tomorrow and straighten things up tomorrow.

In the worst case scenario, even if I don't get the price, hopefully I can cancel the declined order and get my money back (it's a 'pending' written on my bank account and my money is frozen, so pretty sure it's just an authorization that HP has to cancel).

But really hope that I can get that discounted price and won't be forced to buy at the original price.

    Thanks for helping out, KJ.

I will post an update tomorrow and hopefully it have been resolved by then.

    so how did it go?

I am also thinking of buying it but can't use student discount with the 300$ off coupon...grrr

Also, if I get say 3-year warranty, they would still return/exchange it within 21 days of me returning/exchanging this laptop right?

I am hesitating now because I bought this during january sale but they didnt ship it till april and now I am afraid they'll either 1) do it again or 2) will release the refresh 21 days after I buy this

Yeah i believe it was because yesterday was sunday, same thing happened to me when I ordered mine I ordered it on sunday, and got declined, after calling bank and HP it was because Sundays for my bank took a couple days to go through, and HP saw it as they didn't get the payment of some sort, so they cancelled it and I ordered it the next day on Monday, really weird that they would do that as it as I used my debit card as a credit card so the amount was there they just took the day off i guess. HAHA

Haven't called yet. An HP representative was here to help me out, just PMed my order number. Should probably got a response soon so that I don't have to go through all the call.

@jimmyrock88: That's what I was afraid off. That's why for 1). If they do it, I'll cancel and order the new one instead. 2) I order with the standard 7 days shipping to 'delay' the delivery.

Hopefully I'm doing the right thing here. :D

Once the order is taken and sent to the factory, then 99.99% of the time you will not be able to cancel. You must take delivery of the laptop, and at that point you decide you don't want it, you can send it back.

I called to cancel once after I ordered the Envy 17, within 30 minutes of ordering it. After I placed my order I went to Google to search about the Envy 17 and found out HP was soon coming out with the Envy 17 3D! I called ASAP to cancel my order. They flinched a few seconds, but said, ok, it can be done since it was such a short period. After a day...I would say it would be almost impossible to cancel unless maybe you escalated the issue ro resolutions, and even then who knows what can be done.

yea I think I ordered with awdotson using $500 off but canceled mine in march because they kept delaying it!

Although, maybe that time they didn't really have the parts and got them now so hopefully no more delays now.

@koflok - I would say don't cancel it right now. Let it go and see when it is actually shipped. You can cancel it anytime from now until 21days AFTER you get it. So if the refresh is announced then you have options. I am also going to order mine today.

Although an advice, the online order status in their website doesn't help. Atleast didn't help me. They didn't update anything there, so to check my status I had to call them up and I found its easier for me to call HP Resolutions Dept rather than sales number. No automated messages and they are, I believe, higher than sales guys.

Oh okay then. No worries as I can always return it as I get the item. Oh yeah the 21 days return period, is that from the point you receive the item to 1) send the item back or 2) call them to inform that you want to return the item and getting the RMA.

    __

As for my order, I was sure I was gonna get one after Paul_At_HP (an HP representative), told me whether I got an order number that starts with an H, because those which does not starts with H is definitely are getting canceled.

But after being checked I was told that mine was canceled as well (?!?!) and get my money back because the beats line are apparently discontinued. Funny despite the fact that it was just back up yesterday.

Well I'm just gonna call HP and see whether I can work things out with them. Hopefully I can.

From what I understand you can keep the laptop up until the very last day (21), and call them on that last day and let them email you the FEDEX link to print the RMA return label. I personally would be weary to wait till the last day, lol.

Just out of curiosity will the 21 day return work with the regular Envy 14, and I really need a laptop now, but I want the refreshed Envy. Does anyone think this plan will work... Returning The old Envy before 21 days, Then assuming that is gets announced/refreshed mid April buy the new one.

Yup it will work. You can either return it and buy a new one or exchange it and pay the difference!

If you want it really fast, then you should order the quick ship regular envy 14 and see if you like it then decide

@KJ: Yeah lol no I won't do something so risky like that. I'm just making sure. :p
    __
After got declined at first, I asked whether he can help me out and he did. and I just got the answer from Paul_At_HP (I should clear this up: he's a user here in NBR but is an HP rep), it was declined because I used international credit card. My bad then. I called the resolution dept to speed things up for clearing the hold on my credit card and is processed as we speak.

A little off topic but I'm just gonna pay using paypal.
Anybody experienced using Paypal? If I link my credit card to my paypal, I can just directly pay using Paypal without adding the balance on the paypal first, am i correct? So just like a credit card?
Because my friend had trouble when he put $1000+ on his balance, and took some time to get verified. And I got no time for that.

Make sure you even like the configuration of the quick ship!!!! It may not suit your needs. It could be under or over speced for you...check what it includes, than make an informed decision. Hopefully you'll be very pleased with your laptop. :)

koflok, not sure if HP takes PayPal.

What I do know, and I highly recommend you do.... if you have an American Express credit card use it!!!! Most American Express cc add either an additional year to warranty or even doubles it. In the case of the Envy, since its already 2 years, you will get an additional 1 extra year!!! That is free money added to protect you. I used my Costco American Express. :D

I know other CC also increase warranty periods, but not sure which ones.

You can find out with your CC company if yours is one of them. Good luck and keep us posted.

Yeah I'm from Aussie so I have no American cc or anything. And yes HP accepts Paypal, I was told by the resolution dept as well as the website has Paypal option as its payment option. So yeah either Paypal or transferring money to my friend and make him do order which is more troublesome. :D

    Thanks for the info though.

Just to clear things up, i ordered in dec and on jan 13th the radiance came back (which just happened to be 20 days from the day i recieved the non radiance envy) so i called and told them i was sending it back and exchanging for the radiance version. The next day fedex came and picked it up and a few hours later my radiance order was processed. You can call on day 21 and send it on day 22 and be fine so don't worry. All you have to do is process the return within the 21 days then you have 7 days after that to drop it off to fedex before the label expires.

The beats edition is freaking sick. You'll love it, i loved mine and had about the same specs if not the exact same. I also love my radiance though hehe.

Yeah as of now the order status is 'Order being verified'. Unlike my last unsuccessful order which has the 'Pending' status upon payment and not long after that I got the 'Order declined; please call' email. So far I haven't got any of those.

Best is to call HP. You can negotiate better that way, and humans will allow you to double stack coupons at their discretion, machines/webistes won't, so be nice. :p

Next notice on your HP.com account should say order sent to production or something like that. Following that, you'll see Order in Production until it is ready to ship. Welcome to our little Envy corner. :)

Woohoo! Can't wait. Finally after desperately wanting the original 15' beats line which I thought I would never buy because it was priced 2k or something, now I'm finally getting one. Hopefully an SB refresh won't come up and disappoint me, right after my 21 days return period is over lol.

Even if the refresh comes out, hopefully the beats edition isn't refresh until like november or something.

And thanks. Glad to be part of the club now haha

Woohoo to you sir. and your welcome. :p

So the coupon is still available huh? Not that popular huh compared to the $500 one in january

oh man my order got declined, again?!

appearantly although paying via paypal is possible. paying via paypal that is linked to an international credit card account won't. -_-

so yeah i've contacted the resolution department to clear off HP's authorization of my both orders (2k+ in total) ASAP and i have to re-order and hopefully have the coupon still available.

oh man is it me or there's seems like a mysterious invisible hand that tries to stop me to buy this laptop :S. maybe it is a sign afterall that i'll just have to hold off this purchase for the SB refresh.

koflok what can I say? Sorry you are having these issues, but some of us too had to order and ended up returning our units for one reason or another. But you know what? I'm confident in the end, our presistance will pay off with amazing laptops that look good and perform as we expect and more.

Just stick in there and you are sure to be happy.

Yeah it's just not my luck. Estimation for all of my money is returned is around 3-5 days. By then I'm just gonna transfer my money to a friend in US and let him handle it.

Hopefully by then HP still have these coupons.

Now I'm more concerned about whether I'm gonna get my money back fully. I know I shouldn't but still.. it's my money for a whole month of living spent for 2 failed attemps of buying a dream laptop over less then 24 hours. Epic fail.

The one using intl credit card is being processed ASAP after I gave my bank fax number so that they can release the authorization; and for the Paypal one I was informed that it has been successfully reversed but it hasn't shown in my Paypal / bank account. Hopefully it is processing and will be displayed tomorrow or the day after.

Come on HP give me some like 20% additional discount or something for being persistence in my first purchase. :p

Thanks as well KJ for helping me out on my first - yet complicated - purchase. Greatly appreciated. :)

Anytime. Hope things will turn around for you. Best of luck, and hope you stick around our forums. Good info here, so when you do get your Envy you'll know much more about it. :)

Coupons come and go. I'd seriously consider other options out there. The Samsung 9-Series is just a preview of the kinds of surprises we'll see in 2011. Dell also has a thin/light Sandy Bridge notebook in the pipelines, though they've been somewhat mum about the details since the initial info leak on it.

Yeah new coupons are here and it gives even higher discount on my configuration (around $350). So I'm just gonna be really careful this time in terms of paying.

*Sending money via paypal to a friend and US and make him do the purchase*

Estimated build date is 19th April so I should probably get the laptop around 25-ish April with regular shipping. New refresh according to strong rumors here saying it's less than a month from now, so it should be around first week of May (which is the same HP release the updated envy line last year). My 21 day return period still covers those date. So yeah.. hopefully everything's going to plan this time.

Oh yeah I forgot to ask about this earlier. When I return my product, should I go to the Fedex office or the Fedex guy will come to my place and pick up the item?
