My dv1000 has pretty good battery life, but I want the option of a backup in case I know I'm going to be at school, out long, etc...

I heard that the 12-cells on HPs are cumbersome and big... should I just buy another 6-cell or go all out on the 12?

I would also recommend the 12 cell. The battery does not stick out very much. I love the doubled battery life. :D

It's going to be a personal preference thing. The 12 cell will give you more battery life, but it is going to add weight and stick out further from the bottom of the machine. On the other hand, it will tilt the notebook up and allow for more air to circulate.
