    Should I buy dv6-6135DX?

I am considering buying this laptop:
    Newegg.ca - Recertified: HP Pavilion dv6-6135DX Refurbished Notebook AMD A-Series A8-3500M(1.5GHz) 15.6" 6GB Memory DDR3 640GB HDD Blu-Ray Drive AMD Radeon HD 6750M

I would be using it for gaming(possibly with 1080p screen connected) and school work.

Here are a few questions I have:
How good would it be for gaming(could I play SC2 at ultra, etc)?
How well does the GPU overclock?
How good is the cooling? (does the laptop get hot?)
Is it better to wait for 7000 series GPUs?

I'm also confused because the Passmark score for the 6750m is close to the 5870m's but on the notebookcheck.com benchmarks the 5870m is much better. (my friend has a asus with a 5870m)

The 5870M is faster, considerably. But, once you factor in the Dual Graphics, on DX10/11 games, at least, they're not too far apart. It will game great, especially if you play at 1366x768. The 6770M in my DV7 is almost identical to the 6750M, and I can play most games at 1080p with a mix of Med/High. I can't speak for the cooling, and the 7000 series GPU's are being announced on Monday, so thats up to you.

What games exactly? Can you play Crysis 2 at highest setting?

    also
Is it true that the 6770M is just an overclocked 6750M?
and I was looking at this:
    http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1142028
Should the 6750M in the HP laptop overclock well too?

Most games means Skyrim, Need for Speed The Run, and Rage. I can max MW3 and Black Ops, as well. I do not have Crysis 2, sorry.

And, yes, the 6770M is the same as a 6750M with higher clocks. The 6750M does overclock well, but it always depends on the card.

Well, I can't think if any big ones. The 1366x768 display isn't incredible, but it isn't terrible, as long as 768p on a 15 inch laptop is good with you. Other than that, nothing I can think of.

I have to agree 768p is a bit small but more than half of the time I will be at home with a 1080p screen plugged in it so it shouldn't be that bad. And almost all mainstream laptops have 768p screens now..

Can anyone comment on the price, how good of a deal do you think it is?

I think the 6750M is the fastest laptop GPU you can get for that price range. I think its a great deal. Anyone else?

I bought the recert dv6-6135dx from the 'Egg a little over a week ago. My opionion is that it came - as new. Runs flawless and games pretty darn well for the price range. I added an Intel 320 series 120gb SSD and upped the ram to 8gb's. Felt as though I wasted my money on the memory...no 'discernable' speed increase noted...the SSD on the other hand, feels good. Really makes the notebook 'for me' a solid desktop replacement unit. It also runs pretty quiet...at least a helluva lot quieter than the pc in my sig below that I returned to purchase this.

I will mention that I hooked mine up to my 23" monitor without issue. Games play well on that too.

    Best,

    Liquid Cool

Liquid Cool, thats almost exactly what I hope to do with mine off Newegg. I will not be adding RAM, though, and will be switching the screen to 1080p.

I thought about upgrading the screen if I bought it but its not really an option because of shipping and taxes to Canada.
