Envy 14 would be smaller for me and Envy 17 will be larger for me and I expect an Envy 15 (or 16) with Sandy Bridge processor and radiance display. Any hope that HP would resume production of Envy 15/16 ?

There never was a envy 16 and I highly doubt that they would start production on that size model. There is the slightest possibility that the envy 15 might come back, but im doubtful. The first generation envy 15 was plagued by overheating issues and was way to much. The 2nd generation nearly hit the perfect mark it just need larger battery, usb 3.0 for i5 proccessors and a graphics card with ddr5 ram. Some online stores and bricks and mortar stores might have overheld stock of the envy 15. I know in Australia some sites still carry the envy 15 but they are slowly running out.

If you do purchase the envy 15 online or through a store make sure you get the second generation envy 15, the first gen had horrible heating problems and was panned a bit. You can easily identify a second generation Envy 15 by looking at the graphics card. The 1st generation Envy 15 carries the 4XXX series card while the 2nd generation carries the 5830 card.

If you don't want either you can look at the Dell XPS 15, its a good laptop but you will need to wait awhile for the display (its out of stock I think). You can also try the HP pavilion 15.6" models I think they have updated that to the latest sandy bridge processors but Im not quite sure.

How long can you wait till you get the laptop? If you can wait awhile you will see more Sandy Bridge equipped laptops come onto the market. I say the ideal time is anywhere between 1 - 2 months to get the market into full swing.

I was also thinking about this.
Envy 14 is just too small display for things like autocad, photoshop, etc
It also lacks some graphics power.

But envy 17 is way too big and heavy...

An envy 15/16 with 6770M would be nice!

Agreed. If they keep the same cooling layout like they did for the 5830 E15, then that thing is pretty powerful without sacrificing mobility and lightness.

I just hope that they dont get the insane idea of adding a DVD drive... and just destroy that gorgeous cooling solution.

What they could do is to add the switchable gfx solution

I'd prefer a 14 with 67 or 68xx, or a 15 with 68xx. Its rather out of the idea in most cases for a decent price. The Envy15 IMO was a rare case. I'd like a line up with:

Envy Netbook - Not many aluminum Netbooks with great parts in it except for Apples
    Envy 13 or 14
Envy 15 is there is no 14
    Envy 17
