I'd like to take a quick second and say what a great site this is. I've been reading reviews all weekend and I've found a great deal of useful information.
I'm a software developer (J2EE stuff) and I just got a new job that will allow me to be very mobile and I've been thinking of getting a new laptop. I currently have a Dell Inspiron 8200 with an UltraSharp 1600x1200 screen, 2.0 P4M and 1Gig RAM (but it's big and the battery is now dead). I love my laptop but at my previous job I was given an IBM T43 to use and really liked the smaller form factor and integrated wireless (no card sticking out). The only problem I had with the T43 is the screen was only XGA (not good for programming, which I would upgrade on mine) and the location of the Crtl key bothered me (they stick the func key there). After doing much research on this site I've been thinking of getting an HP; something like a nx6125, nc6230 or nc8230 with SXGA+ screens. I'd go with another Dell but they just don't do much for me aesthetically right now.
The HP's seem to be a pretty good knock off of IBM and I like their keyboards. My only concern is I've been reading less than flattering things about the screen brightness. I've been spoiled by the Dell.
I've been thinking of getting a nx6125 since it's pretty cheap and I'd go with 2gig of RAM then but it would be sort of nice to have the pointstick like my I8200, but I could get by.
I have a desktop built that I play games on so this will just be used for browsing/email but mostly programming development and a little bit of GIMP work. If I can play MAME Pacman that's all I'd care about game wise.
So should I go with an HP or go with an IBM and just get used to the keyboard layout?

By default nx6125 comes with 5400RPM drive also.
I think it is also verygood deal and Turion is good for multi-tasking( esp in single cores).
Should I go with HP?
