Hello. I'm thinking I will install retail Vista on my dv2000 Pavillion. Are there any problems I should expect? Do you think I might have trouble finding drivers? The machine is 1 year old and the hardware is mid-range price stuff that came preinstalled from HP.
Will Vista go out and find the drivers I need - or will I have to work at it?
TIA. Bill S

You dont need to install retail, you can use your current OEM key. You just need ANY vista install disc.
Drivers are very easy to get a hold of. Go to the hp website, type in your model number in the drivers & support page -
Would you tell me more about doing that - or can you give a link where it is explained?

wait can you use a oem cd key with a retail copy of windows. i thought you would need to buy an oem version off ebay

OEM key only works for the system you bought. See orevs clean installation guide here http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=120228
