The touchpad issue first observed by stanvman here. The basic issue here is that the touchpad often goes out of control. This is pretty random but happens quite often with my touchpad and is highly annoying. I had not noticed it the first few days since I used an external mouse. So I need your opinion people. I talked to tech support and as usual they were of little help other than telling me to update the BIOS and update the drivers which I did and I dont see any change with the laptop.

What should I do. Return it/exchange it or buy another laptop from a different manufacturer or live with the issue hoping that HP would issue a fix.

Man, I didnt think buying a new laptop in working condition would take so long...I first though of ordering a laptop back in end of May and ordered the laptop on June 10, now it is August 4th and I still dont have perfectly working laptop. Am I cursed or something, I bought 2 laptops within the past 2 months and both had issues, although the V3000z ran without any issues until the day the video card decided to kick the bucket

Well if you really like your notebook then maybe you could try to go to an authorized service provider of HP and see what they think of it. It is better to have someone look at it as they should be able to figure out what is wrong better than tech support who interprets the problem through you.

I noticed the same thing on my V3000. It will be humming along fine then I can only get it to go up or down. I too chatted with support who recommend the updates to no avail. It is a shame cause it otherwise is a very good notebook. Glad I bought at Costco.

I think I will be returning it and at this point see how the Core 2 systems fare and if there are any better options than the dv2kt.

I had the same issue with an NC6000 :( Had to replace the touchpad, I had tried several drivers and none solved.
