I just purchased mine like two days before they released the 2nd gen, which really pissed me off.

Is the HD 6770M significantly better than the 5650?

I got the dv6tse with i5, 1GB ATI Mobility 5650, backlit keyboard, blu-ray drive for $750 with 300 off coupon

Should I return and purchase the dv6tse with i5(sandy bridge), 1GB ATI 6770M, no backlit and no blu-ray for $850 with 250 off coupon?

    Thanks

    I would.

The 6770 should perform close to the 5850, although I dont have anything to prove it.

I just got the old model delivered 11Mar2011 (ordered 03Mar) and MY biggest complaint is that the touchpad buttons are so stiff, that they are basically worthless. Otherwise, the build of unit seems solid and attractive.

I ordered a dvt7qe as a replacement, that ended up only $25 more (w/ Bluetooth, Blue Ray player, 2yr warranty) due to $325 coupon and pricing change upgrading to a i7-2720qm. No backlit keyboard of course, but I can't do anything about that ... for now. That is to say nothing about USB 3.0, better video, and better sound.
