The only reason I would really want to wait is for better battery life. I dont game a lot but battery life and 17" are my main needs/wants/must haves.
Here's how my progress has gone 1st I wanted sager 5750 then the nx9420 then the toshiba p105 then out of nowhere the LG S1 then the dv8000t then the dv9000z. Im going crazy making up my mind. So pretty much its the z or the t now. I just dont know if I should wait. Will there be a big difference in battery life?

To be frankly enough, i dont think there is gonna be a major change with the dv9000 as opposed to dv8000 series. Maybe it will have better graphic cards (for gaming) to compete heads-on with Toshiba's Pro P100 NVIDIA GeForce 7900 card. DV9000 will have same battery life as DV8000 or it might have a little more or little less to it but i really dont think it matters and the Dv9000 is gonna be pricier. I'd recommend that you stick with DV8000 if u arent "hardcore" gamer and if you are, then hp is the wrong company. Look for Alienware (i dont like this company because they make HEAVY and NOISY laptop) and DELL XPS (i like this company's model because they are UNHEAVY and LESS NOISY. Plus, the cool LED lights with Touchpad Glow,,,, Cool feature even though it's not needed)

More Details? Please let me know.

Well, the DV9000 definitely has a new keyboard, meaning no DV8000 KB problems. A bit stiffer. I like it (tried out a DV6000).

DV9000t should also have HDMI out if you're interested in hooking up your notebook to a HDTV.

thanks for the response but what i am really wondering is will the "t" model have a better battery life than the "z" model on the 9000 series.

I doubt it'll be that much better. Both of them having the same 7600 GPU rather than one using the weak but power-efficent Intel shared memory GPU and the other having the more powerful but hotter nVidia shared memory GPU should even things out quite a bit.

I really wanted to wait for the 9000t, but I didn't have the time so I just went ahead and got the 9000z. It's in transit now, so it should be here within a few days. After I use it for a while, I'll post back here and let you know how the battery life is, if you haven't already made your decision... I'm hoping it's not too bad, because I just got rid of the 8000t and that had pretty good battery life.

I don't think the battery life is really a big matter for a 17" desktop replacement, unless your a very athletic. ;P

Brianstretch, how do you know the T will have the 7600 video card ? Assuming or did you get documentation?

Well, Intel versions so far have never had a graphics card worse than its AMD counterpart, so it is reasonable to assume that the dv9000t will have at least a 7600 go or better.

Im just wondering if i should save a few hundred by going with the z series since I guess the consensus is that the battery life is pretty similar with dedicated gpus.
