I have a HP Dv2700 Cto Notebook with the following specifications
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.1 Ghz,
    3 GB RAM,
    250Gb Harddisk,
    GeForce 8400 Graphics Card
OS - Windows Vista Home Premium

I had followed the Steps in notebookreview.com for "Clean install of Windows Vista" and installed Vista on my Laptop 6 months back and it worked perfectly fine.

Last week, i started facing issues with Vista and the system would automatically Hibernate.
The screen would go blank automatically even while its been used.

So, i decided to clean install Vista again.

I ran the Vista setup CD and using the Vista partition utility, formatted the Primary Parition c: (i have 3 paritions).
I started the setup and after copying 66% of the files. The system automatically shut itself down.

I Had to re-start the setup.

When i restarted the setup, the setup doesnt even start copying files.
it shuts down during the initializing setup screen.

I even tried to install Windows XP, even there, the system shuts down during initiazation.
It gives a fatal error and shuts down.

I ran the Shareware BootMaster and it shows that my MBR is corrupted.

Booting with the Windows 98 CD didnt help as i have a 250Gb harddisk. Fdisk was not able to recognize the size

with the New Fdisk (which can read > 64Gb HDDs), i think i cannot Delete the primary partitino without deleting the extended secondary partitions.

If i use the Vista Recovery disc, will i loose the data in D & E drive??

    I am totally clueless now..

    Please help.

I think its a sign of your laptop overheating try blowing out the dust in your laptop vents with a can of compressed air and then try it again and see what happens
