I am sorry but I am drained from all the hours I have put in to trying to get my DV9020t CTO Notebook to function properly.

I have tried EVERYTHING I can think of and I am NEVER calling tech support again for multiple reasons. They are useless, they eat up all my time, I am sick of on hold music, I am sick of trying to understand them with their accents, and then to top it all off, they ask for $69 to be escalated to higher support, greedy lil' -beep-.

Now, I am writing this to hopefully come to a conclusion from a normal human who understands what the heck is going on.

    This is my scenario:

    I have the following:

    DV9020t CTO F.15 firmware
    Windows Vista Ultimate
    Linksys WRT350n
(v1.03.2 firmware; has a usb port for network attached storage)
Western Digital My Book Essential 500 GB
    (formatted to NTFS)

I have managed to get a lot of my problems resolved on my own, however there are 2 major things (and many minor things) that I cannot figure out:

    1) After mapping the NAS (network attached storage) to "Computer" I am able to click on the drive and view the contents. I am only able to execute come files, like .txt, and I am not able to execute others, like .exe, mp3, pdf. I get an error saying the file path is invalid make sure you typed the name correctly.. etc.. This is an odd error because, at the same time, I can copy the file and paste it to my desktop without a problem. I can also hook the drive up to my notebook directly and execute the file.

    2) I cannot delete a folder on the NAS unless it is empty. If there are files in it I need to delete all the files first, then I can delete the folder. Why is this? Can this be fixed? Is it a setting in vista?

    Minor things:

-Incorrect wireless information: Wireless signal is always 3 bars no matter where I go in my house, (even next to the router)

-Can someone please post the F.16 firmware for the DV9020t CTO. I downgraded mine to F.15 to test something and forgot the back it up.

I can't think of the other minor things right now... cuz my head hurts from all this.. But as I remember I will post.

BTW, I have installed all the latest drivers either directly from the manufactures of the components or from HP directly if they are not available elsewhere.

I also did a clean install of vista ultimate.

    PLESE HELP!

    morrison22.
hi i got tired of waiting and waiting and being transfered and eventually disconnected. the fastest way to getting to the techs is use the online tech chats. i will never call again because techs im talking to are in India.
i will use the online chats from now on..

those aren't really Hp problems.... They are Vista problems.... more or less driver problems. So calling Hp is just wasting your time cause they cant help you anyway.

    "Linksys WRT350n
(v1.03.2 firmware; has a usb port for network attached storage)
    "
Obviously that router has problems talking correctly with Vista about your Attached Mass Storage device.

Once again none of your problems have anything to do with HP, sounds more like Linksys is who you should be talking to.

sounds to me like your problem was not installing xp when you got your notebook.

Join the 'i hate vista' club, and embrace XP. vista is not ready.
