I got this laptop on the 26th of November, and I've been happy every since. I can play every game on it fine, but it seems to have an issue with Sims 3. It's the 2nd time this has happened, but I've also noticed other issues while starting up the game.
When i start up, the little video it shows stops, and the EA logo that appears also freezes. But I can bypass these freezes by pressing start and then re-entering the game window. The game seems to play fine otherwise, however twice I have had issues when going into the Create-A-Sim thing. The first time I played the game a few days ago it happened, and it happened again tonight. However, I have gone into that mode several times before without a problem.
What happened was this blue screen thing, (I can't remember what it said!) It also played this annoying, monotonous sound.
I think it might be a GPU problem but I'm not sure. I have configured my GPU to Fixed graphics in the BIOS and I have DNA drivers.

I have never had a problem with mine but i have not tested the game. It sounds to me like the game itself is buggy though. A quick google search shows many people who have crashes and BSOD's from the game.

Maybe I'll bother myself to do some research later. It probably could be the game itself, (like you said) as it is the only one I've had issues with. It worked fine on my other computer, but I'm not too sure.
