No. Not unless you purchase the correct adapter tip/dongle to fit the newer models.

    i was looking for a similar search, and eventually decided to get the slim adapter here Amazon.com: Pwr+ Slim Ac Adapter for Hp Pavilion Dv3 Dv4 Dv5 Dv6 Dv7 G4 G6 G6x G7 G7t Dm4 Dm4x ; Hp G60 G61 G62 G70 G71 G72 ; Compaq Presario Cq40 Cq45 Cq50 Cq60 Cq61 Cq62 Cq70 Cq71 Cq72 ; Hp Compaq 2210b 2510p 2710p 6720t 6730s 6830s 4415s 4510s 472 for $30. it works great, slightly hotter than the 120W brick that came with the laptop itself.

I have not tried serious gaming on it for obvious reasons, but dota and guild wars work decently even on the 90w slim adapter (using the 6770m).

The quads with radeon need 120w adapter.
You will burn the 90w slim out, or start a fire.
Your battery is probably also being used to
give it enough juice even when plugged in.

    no. just no.
worst case scenario it will throttle the cpu down, and even that hasn't happened yet.

    It's not the 90w vs 120w problem.
Unless this adapter can put out 6 Amps,
it is not sufficient. Take a look at it, read
the small print, I bet it is 4.5 Amps. It
WILL eventually burn out or start a fire if
it can not supply 6 Amps safely.

dv6t-6xxx series support 3 operating currents: 3.5A, 4.74A, and 6A. the laptop will not draw more than 4.74A from the slim 90w adapter no matter how you stress it, it simply will throttle down if it really needed that much power.

Hmm, it really depends on the dv6 model. If you have the quad core with 6770 graphics, even if it does throttle the cpu down, the radeon+cpu will really stress out that slim adapter. Now if you have the dual core dv6, or Llano dv6, or disable the radeon 6770 in the bios and use intel graphics, then the adapter may work, but it still is gonna be stressed and burn out eventually. I have burnt out high quality desktop psu by running overclocked 4.7ghz quad and gtx 580. HP specs require 120w and 6A adapter for a reason, the quads/radeon dv6s NEED it for the laptop to function properly and the power supply to not die or catch on fire.

P.S. By the way, HP states I should get about 5 hours battery life running the quad using intel graphics just for websurfing and light use. I only get half that time, even at idle I only get about 2 1/2 hours. If you use the radeon or game an hour would be lucky. This laptop needs a lot of juice, it is not a netbook or ultra portable, the loud fan and massive heat output should give you the idea of the power requirements of this beast.
