I currently own a hp pavillion 6000 laptop. At first it was running fine for the first couple weeks. Until recently, my computer boot up is really slow. My problem is after the blue welcome screen comes up, my wallpaper will show. It will sit at my wallpaper from anywhere to 3-5 minutes, then it will continue to the loading of my icons and start menu. It did not do this when I first got the computer.

I have tried different things such as disk defragment, disk error checking, system restore, disk clean up, but no improvements. Anyone have an idea on what is happening?

Run Windows Defender or a similar Anti-Spyware program.

Go to Run/msconfig, startup sheet. You should have only a few programs starting up with Windows.

i agree with vassil_98, run your anti-spyware applications and see if there's any difference... i suggest adaware, spybot, and ccleaner

    also, remove any bloatware installed
