Im pretty disappointed in the performance of this new unit. Im wondering if this has a CPUs that clocks down. It seems that a double-click on a program launch, or any icon results in a 2-3 second delay before anything happens. Is there a way in the bios to speed things up?
Just to prove to myself that it wasnt one of my programs causing this, I bought another HD and used the recovery discs to make a fresh install. I then uninstalled the Norton junk, but the hesitation still exists.
Any idea here? What is a good benchmark program that will reveal what is going on.
Heck, I have an old Compaq 900 mHz with 512 ram that is as fast as this unit. This 6000t has 2 gigs of ram and is 1.6 mHz CPU core 2 dual; XP Media Center.
Ive read that others have installed 7200 rpm drives, but couldnt see any difference in speed.
I do realize that there is a 400 millisecond delay built into the menu display speeds. I always change this to zero.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Yes, you can disable it by going into Power Options and selecting Always On, but then the laptop will run at full tilt all of the time (which creates unneccessary heat). Be mindful of the ambient room temp if doing this.
There is a large amount of junk software installed on these units beside Norton. You may want to spend more time cleaning it up, as there are probably many processes running which are just wasting cpu cycles.
After that, I'd recommend defragging the hard drive because it will be a mess.
