    Hi guys,

I am new to this forum and i want a help from you guys.I have bought a brand new compaq cq45 notebook with good configuration about 40k.Now the concern is like the ambience in my house is very quite and so whenever i am working on my lappy like whenever there is a hardisk reading going on i hear a small sound, i should say extremely small but in a perfect ambiance rather irritating. So i would like to ask one question like is that common whenever there is a hardisk reading or detection going on we will hear a small reading sound.

I should give one more info like the sound will be heard occasionally and not continuously.

I am so much concerned with this sound because its a new laptop.

It is not unusually to be able to hear a hard drive when in a quiet environment. Some are louder than others. It's probably typical for the model you purchased.

I just bought an HDX 18t and I get a very slight crunchy sound coming from inside - probably the HDD. It's very slight like crumbling paper or a crackling log on a fire. What's yours sound like?

As long as I'm not the only one with the issue... :) The sound doesn't get in the way of anything - like listening to music or watching a movie. It's very very slight. But it is a noise. It might not hurt to put in call to HP and ask what's up. I did a check on my hdd and everything seems to be running smoothely. I'm not having any performance problems. My system's backed-up and I'm really not too worried about the whole thing. But I'll keep my eye (or ear) on it.

    :)
