I know there is a thread for HP dv8000 keyboard issues, but my zd7010 just started acting up. The down volume button seems to be stuck "on" while the up volume actually mutes (the mute button still mutes too). The delete key and right & down arrow gives me a letter c (sometimes a number). Shift becomes stuck once in a while. There's more problems, but you get the jist. It's taken me 5 minutes just to type this much properly.
On a related note, my mouse doesn't highlight very often any more. This all started happening suddenly a few days ago. Very frustrating. Any help would be awesome.

Have you tried using an external keyboard and mouse to make sure they work?
Try re-seating the internal connectors for the mouse, keyboard, and volume controls. If that doesn't work, I've got a bad feeling that the motherboard might be going.
But in all honesty, though, I'm just making some educated guesses here, and I have no idea how accurate they are -
Well thats seems like a driver issue.... the fact it is working at all is a good sign as far as hardware goes.
Try this;
1. While Starting up, as soon as you see the hp logo in black and white press your ESC key. (or use the F10 Shortcut)
2. Once the boot selection menu pops up.(it'll have a couple things like your CD drive, floppy, etc.)
3. Go down to '<Enter Setup>'
4. Once you get in there press your 'Right Arrow' a couple times. Find the option labeled: "Hard Drive Self Test"
5. Run that and see how it turns out it may take a while, but that'll tell you if it is hardware or software related.
Let us know how it works. -
I really don't know how a hard drive test would have anything to do with the keyboard, unless you're just trying to make sure that the keyboard works in the BIOS (since you have to use the right arrow to get to the HD test; plus, he even stated that his right arrow key wasn't working properly).
If the keyboard works fine in the BIOS, then it's definitely a driver issue. If not, there's something hardware-related that's failing.
So Annoying! HP zd7000 keyboard = ARG!
