Long story short, I bought a MBP, my boss bought me a 6910p (should be here in three days), returning the MBP.

Now I bought a Seagate 160 7200 RPM drive, to upgrade the MBP, since I am sending the MBP pro back, and the 6910p only comes with a 80 gig 5400 RPM drive I want to switch them out the 80 gig with my new 160 gig drive.

How hard/easy is it to upgrade the HD on the 6910p? I know the MBP was going to be a serious pain in the butt, and if I did it myself it would void my warranty, but I am hoping the 6910p, won'y require me to completely take apart the notebook to get to the drive.

So, is upgrading the HD hard, or easy? (I build my own desktops, so I am not afraid getting inside of a computer if I have to)

Will upgrading the HD void the warranty? I know that HP won't cover the drive itself, I just don't want to screw up the warranty on the rest of the hardware.

    Thanks in advance. :)

Upgrading the HD shouldnt be too hard. HP has service manul for all their systems online detailing the steps required to remove/replace virtually ny component of te notebook...

The only thing to look out for is to remove the adaptor if equipped from the pins on the old HD and use it with the new one. The warranty should not be affected by changing the HD but do keep your old HD around since if you have to send it in for warranty service it would be a good idea to put the stock HD in and then ship it back to HP since they will in some cases replace your upgraded HD to stock ones.

Yeah, I would never ship my own hardware back to a company. My friend did that with his Dell Desktop, lost his 7900 GTO. :D

I didn't think it would be too hard, as from the looks of things the HD is easily accessible on 6910p, but it's nice to know it won't void the warranty (unless I damage something when switching them out of course).

MBP = Man-Bear-Pig? Have you been shopping with Al Gore?

As to the real topic. The 6910p is a great machine, you won't be disappointed. And the HD should be replaceable. Check the guides on the HP site.
