So I missed out on HP's 30% sale, and I was planning on getting a dv6t with i5/1080p/6770m with the 30% off, because I can't afford the dv6tqe with the 6770/1080p screen. (even with the current 425 off). So I'm wondering, does the dv6t usually get good coupons like that? There is no coupon up for it right now, and I'm wondering if it's possible another large coupon for it will come out soon?

Coupon code NBT5317 brings the price down to $899 for the DV6t Quad Edition with the i7-2630QM, 1GB 6770M, and the 1920x1080 display.

There is a coupon for the Select Edition, NBSE39114, but it comes out to MORE expensive at $924.99 with i5/1080p/6770m.

So right now your best way to go is to get the QE.

I need it below 840 before taxes, since my budget is 900ish after taxes... :(

HP usually have 25% discounts every few months so maybe hang on for that. The 30% is like every six months sorry (I just missed out on it too :/).

Yes, they have large coupons very often. The price of any given configuration fluctuates by +/-$75 or so. Your problem is that you're at the lowest end of those fluctuations so you may have to wait a little bit.

The Quad Edition is almost out of reach: the best deal I've seen recently is 33% off and that puts you at $875 for 6770M/FHD display (I don't know whether that's acceptable for you). This usually occurs in the middle of the month; I bought mine with one of these in June and saved $550 (but the final price was around $1100 -- the fewer upgrades you choose, the smaller the savings). They also offered a $500 off coupon back in January which would put you at $825, but it has never gone so low since then.

The one with the i5 is much easier: just wait for the next 30% off or a $200 stackable coupon (any more than $200 and they generally don't stack with the default "instant savings"). It should not be too long.

If you want to order now and still want it under 900 incl tax, you might have to pray for a shipping delay and call them and ask for some credit to offset. That's a big YMMV.

I doubt they will have another ship delay. I bet they are sick of handing out $50 to everyone that gets delayed. I got $580 with my coupon then another $60 for the ship delay.
