Ive been holding back on the purchase, but the Vista program is coming up and I want to know when it will happen. Any ideas guys, specially those who work for HP.

I dont know for the dv2000 series but for the v3000 since there always handicapped versions of pavilions in terms of upgrade options so i doubt they will get that option.

Well, from Microsofts sources we will not have Vista until late Q4 2006 or Q1 of 2007 along with Directx 10. I currently have an HP dv2020us with an AMD Turion64 x-2 for sale on ebay... let me know if you are interested. Selling for around $1,000 and it includes IR remote control and stereo headphones. Check out the Buy, Trade, and Sell forum on this site. It has a link on it. The computer is completely Vista ready and says so on the sticker, and besides I was reading on the Microsoft forums that the new encoding for Vista will require a 64-bit processor and will not function on a 32-bit processor in order to operate HD Drives, BluRay and other new optical devices. This computer is, as noted by the 64 after the Turion, a 64 bit processor that can encode on Vista when it comes out. It also has 2 cores for faster processor speed, sorta like emulating two processors in one chip!
The only reason I am selling this sweet looking computer is b/c my business needs calls for me to run demanding programs that take up a lot of memory. Let me know. Thanks. -
he's looking for the TL-60 processor though as stated in the topic.

I dont know if they will ever include the TL60 in the dv2000z/V3000z. They seem to take a staggered approach. The V3000z/dv2000z make do with the TL 52. The dv6000z/V6000z has options until the TL 56. The dv9000z includes all of the Turion X2 models. I dont knwo whether this is due to supply problems or if it is relatd to marketing, but I sure do hope they offer the TL 60 with all of their models.

Okay, sorry... I saw that but figured that its a long time to wait for Vista to be pre-installed with the notebook, just offering an opinion. I mean this computer seems to run very quickly. It just really depends on what your primary needs for using the notebook are for. My bad guys...

Well Im not planning to use it much, but i would like to have it for photoshop and video editing, but i really perfer getting the best Turion has to offer and that is the TL-60, Also, in October they will sell the laptop with a voucher for a Free Vista upgrade. If i purchase the computer during that time period, Once vista comes out. I could mail in the voucher, or have it automatically mailed to me.

The BIOS won't be a problem. The warranty will be toast, assuming they notice. Swapping CPUs means disassembling the notebook and HP would prefer you didn't do that. Read the service guide before deciding on that plan.
The 65nm TX2's, whenever they ship, will require a BIOS update to recognize the new core stepping. HP will almost certainly provide that update. High-end TX2 supply will be limited until those 65nm chips hit the market. -

Another option is probably to wait for AMD to release 65nm TX2(possibly early 07) which might decrease the power consumption and lead to an increase in clock speeds. Hopefully HP will provide a BIOS update to support this.
So when is the DV2000,V3000 going to have Turion TL-60
