Is it possible to softmod a GT 230M in a dv6 quad into a GT 330M? It would require overclocking the core by 75MHz and the shaders by 165MHz and then getting the drivers to recognize it as a GT 330M instead of a GT 230M. Reason I would want to do this is for the added performance and so that the graphics card is still the "latest generation". How hard do you think it would be to do this and how much more subjectable to overheating do you think it would be if done? Thanks!

I'm pretty sure the only performance boost would come from the overclock.

Anyway, try using rivatuner to do the softmod.

Using the Nvidia system tools, no problem setting the CPU to 575, the shader to 1265, and memory clock to 948 without any problem. It can possibly set for better values. Reached a solid 700/948/1540 at a 5c increase in the furmark stability test.

Agreed - the GT300 series cards from Nvidia appear to be simply more rebrands of the same cards as the last generation . . . and the generation before that . . . and the generation before that.
