    Hi,

I recently got a HP laptop as a replacement for my old dell which was stolen. It's come with windows 7 home premium installed on it, but I bought windows 7 ultimate for my dell and so still have the disc for that, and would like to install it on the new HP. I phoned HP and asked about the software warranty (which is 90 days) and they said that if I installed my windows 7 ultimate on it, that would void the warranty. I was just wondering what people would advise to do in this situation? Obviously I can install ultimate in a few month's time after the warranty has run out, but doing a clean install will be a hassle and I'd much rather do it now while I have nothing to back up on this computer. I've already created my recovery discs so I can install the original software if anything goes wrong.

    Cheers :)

If you have the restore discs go ahead. If you have any problems, restore the laptop before sending it for repair and they won't know anything different
