Just wanted to let everyone know that I came up with a workaround to stop the Envy 14's fan from cycling with minimal performance loss. Also, I contacted HP to put out a BIOS update that allows the disabling of Turbo Boost (the main cause of the fan cycling). A benchmark on temperatures is also provided. Enjoy!

Thanks for this :) I saw your post yesterday, though it's nice to see that it's been updated. I'll need to test this to see if it also improves battery life.

Looking at your temp. tests, though, it's strange that the minimum value is actually lower when TurboBoost is enabled (ie, the 'High Performance' profile). Odd, but not much of an issue.

The minimum value varies between all power plans. It depends on how hot the processor was after opening all those programs at once and closing them. The results are accurate and recorded from HWMonitor. Please let me know if it works or not. By the way, my Envy 14 specs are the same as yours, with the exception of the upgraded 8 GB of RAM that I put in over the holidays.

I added screenshots to prove the temperature readings to the skeptics.
