Well, it looks like the nVidia 8-Series graphics cards have now been added to the dv2500/6500/9500t (finally). ;) Looks like we get a 256MB ded-vram 8600M GS for the 9500t, as well as a 128MB ded-vram 8400M GS. The dv6500t and 2500t have the optional 8400M GS as well (128MB & 64MB respectively).
Choosing any of these cards pushes the estimated delivery date to June 20th.

A new white dv6500tse is also added to the mix, but does not appear to add anything other than a different color/imprint finish.

The HD-DVD burners now make an option appearance in some new & old models, along with a $470 price tag. Also, a 4GB ram option has appeared on the 9000 series units. I'm glad that HP is finally allowing support of this amount of ram (even if it is only useable on the oem Vista Ultimate 64-bit).

As for the older models, the dv6000z now gets the option of the Turion X2 TL-64, but retains the Go 7200. :( The dv9000z appears to have lost the Go 7600, leaving only the integrated 6150 for now. The dv6000t no longer appears configurable with the C2D T7200, as it has disappeared. I'm assuming this notebook will be phased out shortly anyway.

No new consumer Compaqs have shown up yet, but I'm sure that gamers won't miss them. ;)

With all of the changes today, I now have to completely rethink what I want.............. :D

    :)

I'm ready to buy a DV2500t or a DV6500t Special Edition now but can't decide. I'm leaning towards the smaller size because I will be taking it with me everywhere and it will get used and abused. For this reason I like the special edition white because it will show less wear 'n tear, but is white not an option for the DV2500?
Also the DV6500 seams to have a graphical advantage in memory when comparing both Nvidia cards 64MB/128MB (Please tell me 64MB is more than capable).
And another thing, do you get the HDMI port when you order the NVidia graphics or is it only with the HD-DVD drive?

I appreciate everyone's comments in helping me decide which model to buy.

I'm pretty sure that the hdmi port comes even without the NVidia card. Also, it seems like the special edition (white) option is only available for the dv6500t. I'm so torn between the dv9500 and the dv6500. It also seems like they got rid of the option for the A/B/G wireless card with bluetooth, now we have to go for A/B/G/N if we want internal bluetooth, for $45 more :(

What exactly is white on the dv6500tse? Is it just the screen frame and touchpad trim, as I can't see the product demo in IE7 for whatever reason..............

Wow, that was a quick change. I don't expect it to last long however, as HP will begin to get bogged down with orders...... :D

Congrats, and I hope they send it by the estimated date! :)

May be I am blind or something, but I am looking on the HP website and I can't find the special edition for the dv6500t. Does anyone have a link?

the spec edition is like the other white ones that came out earlier but this time as a real available option with a CTO im guessing

dissappointing that they only gave the 9500 a 8600M-GS, in the nvidia specs it is considerably slower than the GT version

wonder how it fairs against the go7600

In real gaming, I don't know. In synthetic benches like 3DMark06, the 8600M GS comes out a good bit ahead of the Go 7600.

    http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Graphics-Cards-Benchmark-List.844.0.html

Personally, I am debating whether to get a dv9500t with the 8400M GS. The games I play are old or pathetic, so the 8400 should have little problem with them. ;) :D

well depends on the cost i guess, if ur gonna save loads of $$$ then yeah but if not why not get the best you can ;)

as for the 3dmark scores, i have a go7600 and using the 96 series drivers gave me 2300-2400 from 2033 with the 86 drivers

Well, besides saving the $150, I would guess that the 8400M GS runs pretty cool in the chassis of a 17" laptop. To hear constant fan noise would annoy me, as my V5201 is pretty quiet. Besides which, I'm cheap. ;) :p :D

Yeah, that does sound decent for a Go 7600, but the 8600M GS *should* still be a few hundred points ahead considering it's baseline score. How much that translates into real performance, I can't even begin to guess. :)

Hi guys. Do you know what is the difference between HP Pavilion 6500t special edition and usual version? Why 1st one is so expensive?
To the point, Ge Force 8600 GS is almost the same as 8600 GT!
