Alright so I got my new DV5T and I'm loving it, already undervolted a HUGE amount (1.5V on the 8X multiplier) (guess I got lucky) and it knocked 18-20C off my max temps!

Anyway let me get to the point, I have some issues which I'd like to fix with this laptop.

1.) Can you change the function brightness key so that the up arrow is to increase brightness and the down arrow is to decrease it? Same thing for volume (left and right arrows)

2.) Can I change the way the screen changes brightness levels? For example on the Dell XPS, instead of doing a "smooth" brightness transition, it just does "steps" in levels of brightness. I'm not sure if I made that clear, just think of it doing rough transitions instead of smooth.

3.) Can I dim the LCD further than it allows me to with stock drivers? Is it safe?

4.) The little arrow next to the lock button in vista no longer shows shutdown, sleep or hibernate, only lock, switch user and log off are shown. How do I fix this? I already tried the "noshow" registry hack and it didnt help.

    1) Not possible AFAIK. I know most notebooks like Acers have this key setup. Theres always the FN+5 and 6(?) button to change brightness.

    2) HP does the brightness in steps using the FN key

    3) You should be able to dim it from No light to full brightness

    4) Not sure. Try posting in the Software/OS section.

What graphics card do you have?
