Hello all, this is my first post and I'm hoping that I can draw some conclusion over which laptop to purchase here.

Basically I'm extremely keen on buying Compaq's Presario V3144TU but I have concerns over it's capability on Vista Home Premium (the Aero Glass interface). Is there anyone out there who managed to turn on Aero smoothly on this laptop?

I'll buy it if there's no problem with Aero. This laptop is a beauty!

    Thanks.

I couldnt find any official HP specifications page for the V3144, but found a spec list when I searched the web. I assume this is the same specifications that you have looked at.
If it is then, yes you can run Aero without any issues. The GMA950 is not a powerful gaming graphics but it does meet the basic requirements to run Aero. You have sufficient amount of RAM and a good cpu as well. So, it shouldnt have any trouble running Vista with Aero.

Yes those are the specs. That sounds great :) There're actually other options from ACER with delicated graphics, same specs and still lies within the same price range. However, I'm very turn off by ACER's laptop design.

Anyone else has inputs on this laptop?

If there are Acer notebooks with the same price with dedicated graphic options I would propably advise for you to get them if you intend to do any gaming or enjoy PC games.

If they are simply not pleasing to you aesthetically then just look around, eventually your sure to find a computer that catches your eye.
