Hi,
I bought my HP HDX X18T-1200 CTO approx. 6 months ago and it was installed Vista on it. I upgraded it to W7 (clean install, of course) and I think W7 is a great OS, and way better than Vista. But, as i remember, ever since i started using W7, my problems with this laptop started too. Generally, my laptop has 4 main problems:
1. My eject button and bass/treble slider aren't working! I've read a lot of users are complaining about this issue but some of them say they can make it work. I'm wondering how they do it (and how can i do it, of course).
2. When I install MediaSmart, QuickPlay, Tone Control (or whatever they are called) program that has volume/bass/treble indicator, it doesn't work properly and keeps popping up (especially it happens when I close the laptop's cover or wake up the computer from the hibernate mode). So I deleted all the software related with this. When it pops up, my bass/treble sliders (but not the volume slider) are malfunctioning, too, bass and treble levels just keeps increasing and decreasing, increasing and decreasing, increasing and decreasing...
3. My remote control buttons doesn't work at all. I think it's a software-related issue (because it was working a few months ago, my remote control and its batteries are okay too). As I said, Currently I have nothing which is related with QuickPlay, MediaSmart etc. installed on my computer, i think that's the problem. Which program(s) should I install?
4. The issue that annoys me the most is, sometimes (it happens especially when I close the laptop's cover or wake up the computer from the hibernate mode, too) my touchpad enhancements doesn't work, it can't even recognise my taps! At first, I thought it's a touchpad-related issue. But one day, when I can't use the enhancements, I turned on a key grabber software (the software which shows the key codes) and I see the codes of bass and treble slider's buttons! The computer thinks I press the bass/treble slider's buttons constantly bu I don't even touch them!
And please, don't just give me the links of tutorials on internet. I read almost all of them and none of them didn't work for me, as you can see. I need some serious help from you.
Thanks (and sorry for my English-related mistakes)!

To fix eject on my HDX18 with Windows 7 64bit I followed these instructions (I forget where I copied them from now. All credit to the original poster if they come across this).
There is a way to fix the eject button if u want the simple way just install the old mediasmart menu from this link ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp42001-42500/sp42238.exe When it installs open the mediasmart properties from the icon on the desktop and go to compatability and choos windows vista service pack 1 click ok and then logoff and login again ill work fine. but if u want it to look like the new mediasmart menu
1.u still have to install the old mediasmart menu
2.open the task manager and close the mediasmart menu from (processes)
3.Copy these files from HP MediaSmart folder in to c:/program files/hewlett-packard/hp mediamsart and if it asks to replace just say yes
4.restart
there u go now u got the eject button to work with the new mediasmart menu
Quicklaunch lets the volume work, but my bass/treble onscreen was screwed, the image was not right.
To solve the bass/treble all screwed up like yours was, popping up and illegible onscreen. I disabled it, in Start, Search, type msconfig and in the startup tab turn Tonecontrol off. I don't use it, never needed it before.
SP46731 fixes the mute, BUT it does not turn orange when muted, I have to rely on the icon next to the clock to indicate speakers muted or not.
SP44983 for the remote control.
I had started out with Windows 7 and try to see how much will work without installing extra HP stuff if not necessary.
I don't know about your other problems though.
