Tonight while playing music using iTunes 7 on the computer in my sig, all of songs keep skipping off and on. Does anybody have an idea what might be causing this?

Try removing the songs that skip from your "library" (but don't delete them) and adding them again. Any progress?

When iTunes does it, it seems like it is every song. It seems like an issue with iTunes not being allocated with enough memory or something. It usually goes away when I restart iTunes or my computer. It's just annoying because it has been happening regularly.

I have an odd issue with iTunes, as well. I was using the last version (before the current one) and updated it to the current version, and now I get occasional tiny 1-second skips through every song. In Winamp, no such thing occurs, and it only happened once I upgraded to 7.02.16 two days ago.

    It's quite annoying.

One of the reasons that I upgraded from my very old desktop computer to my current rig was that when I upgraded from iTunes 6 to iTunes 7 it wouldn't run at all. My girlfriend says she has a similar problem, although not as often on her notebook. I asked her if it just started with the installation of iTunes 7, and she said she had the same problem before as well. The problem doesn't occur in my other desktop running itunes 7 on a PIII with 512 of RAM, so I don't get what gives here.

I'm having the exact same problem, and have read about it other places too. Little skips ahead in the songs at random spots. Sometimes it doesn't happen at all, and other times every 10 seconds or so. Really, really annoying.

It seems to be an iTunes issue and the cause doesn't seem to have been pinpointed yet. Hopefully they are able to fix it in the next iTunes update.

OK, well I'm glad I'm not the only one. My first thought was, I spent all this money on a laptop and it can't even play MP3s back without skipping!!

I think I might have a 6.xx installer on my external hard drive. Time to make a downgrade, :)

All of the old versions are on www.filehippo.com. I just discovered that site recently and it's great. You need to rename and move your iTunes 6 playlist file from the old playlists folder to the normal directory when you install the old iTunes unless you want to add all your songs all over again.

yeah iTune 7.x and QuickTime 7.x don't work too well on Core 2 Duo or Core Duo for some reasons.

With the popularity of CD and C2D in PC and now Mac platforms, I would think improving iTunes compatibility with these lines will be a top priority on the next revision if that's true.
